A story from the first batch of our skills course — a graduate who now teaches four other women in her own neighbourhood.
Twenty-two women joined the first batch of the three-month tailoring course. Each of them left with a sewing machine.
One of them now earns six to seven thousand taka a month working from home. In the months before Eid the workload is heavy enough that she has brought four other women from her neighbourhood into the work.
For us the measure of this programme is not how many people were trained, but how many actually started earning afterwards.
